Katy & Dan / Howard County Conservancy

What a great, green wedding! I was instantly thrilled when I found out Katy and Dan chose to get married at the Howard County Conservancy,
a stone’s throw from my own house. Upon learning from Katy what a neat place it was, I grabbed the kids and hopped in the car
the next day to make a little field trip out of it. Beautiful, green, and serene, the HoCo Conservancy
is quite honestly a beautiful wedding backdrop — and not a bad field trip either.  🙂

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Katy and Dan on their wedding, day simply because they are the real deal:
super sweet, totally in love, and so supportive of each other.

Given the beautiful weather, Katy and Dan were blessed to have their ceremony outside.

With a beautiful fall day, we had the guitarist sitting at the ceremony entrance greeting guests, as well as a huge welcome sign placed on an easel.
Katy and Dan got married under a big tree at the end of the aisle. It was quite memorable!

The conservancy has tons of great photo spots — I don’t think Dan could resist a tractor picture!

Guests entered the indoor reception room to a table full of place cards. The inside of the cards had a special note describing the centerpieces: beans.
One couple from each table was to take home the bottle of beans and cook the recipe Katy and Dan suggested.
What a unique idea and perfect match for two vegetarians!

Because Dan brews his own beer, he bottled a pumpkin ale for the cocktail hour and had three different flavors and types in kegs for the reception.
The beer was so tasty and popular that there wasn’t much left at the end of the night. Great job, Dan!

One of my favorite parts of the wedding, in addition to the urns filled with fall veggies, pumpkins, and gourds from the farmer’s market,
was the fact that their caterer was so easy to work with. She even cooked Katy and Dan’s favorite mushroom soup recipe for all of their guests!

Another delicious part — these amazing cupcakes! Seriously, they were just so huge and yummy!
Katy and Dan made sure to get some fall flavors, too, including pumpkin. Yum!

In line with their organic, green theme, the couple provided guests with flower bulbs to plant in their gardens come spring.
Also, because the reception parking lot wasn’t lit, Katy and Dan made flashlights available for their guests to take home.
So considerate of them — I love thoughtful weddings!

We chose to move the mason jar candles from the ceremony to right outside the reception, providing a lighted path for guests to find the parking area.

Katy and Dan, thank you for letting jpb designs be a part of your day! We loved every minute!
