Elizabeth & Trevor | Wyndham Grand Chicago

Looking back, I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to coordinate Elizabeth and Trevor’s Chicago destination wedding at the Wyndham Grand. But, it does make me laugh because I honestly couldn’t believe they booked with me! Really! When we first spoke, I had pneumonia.

Getting to Know Them

Although we didn’t talk too much during that initial phone call, I learned so much about this couple during the months leading up to the wedding.

To start, Elizabeth and Trevor didn’t live in Chicago. Quite frankly, they aren’t really from Chicago either. Since Chicago served as a spot somewhat in between their families, they chose it for a destination wedding for everyone involved.

These two actually live out in Southern California. Where it is seemingly warm and beautiful every single day.

In California, Elizabeth found these amazing shoes. They screamed Hollywood in the classy, elegant sense. Elizabeth had that old Hollywood charm to match. You know – a quiet elegance and stunning natural beauty.

Quickly, I learned that this couple had really great taste, too. Clearly – they had good taste in each other. Then, most definitely in fashion. And, finally, I learned they worked on the wedding details together. With help from one of the dads, they built and painted the escort card stands and painted the easels to match. It really was the perfect touch.

You know what else I learned? Elizabeth is a writer. Yes, a professional writer. Like has-her-own-novel-for-sale kind of writer.

Needless to say, they had a pretty cool ceremony. Besides the vows and message, the sun came out. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it had been over cast all day long. Yet, as the instrumental version of “Here Comes the Sun” played and the wedding party walked down the aisle, the sun peaked around the buildings.

Everything about their wedding day was really magical. Everyone had a great time. The weather cooperated. Then, everyone danced and danced.

I Had to Know…

Finally, later in the day, I couldn’t help myself. I had to ask. What made them decide to choose me as their coordinator. I bashfully explained why I was asking. I admitted to my bout with pneumonia during our initial call.

Their reply: “Oh, we didn’t notice!” (Ok. I told you they are super nice.). What I do remember of their response is when Trevor said they appreciated that the hotel trusted me and recommended me. Then, once we spoke on the phone, they felt reassured and confident they would be in good hands.

Ultimately, I am super thankful to the Wyndham Grand for their generosity in sharing my services with their clients. It is one of my favorite places to be. As much as I would love to be in California on those sandy beaches basking in the sun, my heart belongs to Chicago. And, to me, the Wyndham Grand views are breathtaking.

I couldn’t have been prouder to share my love of this city with all of the guests at Elizabeth and Trevor’s wedding.
