Downtown Chicago Cultural Center Wedding

This was my first.

Truly, I could not believe that I hadn’t crossed paths with the Chicago Cultural Center earlier, as it is in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Megan and Brad quickly fell in love with the architecture and old charm.

As the old Chicago library and as a former English teacher, I feel in love with the author names across the top. Because I love all things beautiful, the Tiffany done didn’t disappoint, either!

Lindsey Kay Photography did an amazing job on all the photos! Because Megan and Brad hired me on as their planner, we were able to venue hunt together, which I always think is fun, especially when getting to know a couple. You can see more about our planning packages here.

Getting Ready

Let’s start at the beginning…

Megan and Brad each got ready in different suites at the Royal Sonesta on the Chicago riverfront, which is a great location for a downtown Chicago wedding.

One of my favorite moments was walking into this getting ready suite to this group singing and singing to all of the tunes! It was such a fun atmosphere!

Ceremony

The ceremony took place under the Tiffany dome. It’s so funny to think that tourists have no idea, as they stroll along Michigan avenue in downtown Chicago, that the large tiffany dome is right there. It’s definitely worth the pit stop!

Cocktail Hour

For cocktail hour, guests went to a different side of the building, to a room we call GAR. Under that second tiffany dome, we had a lounge set with personalized newspapers Megan created for all of her guests. We also placed the “guestbook” phone down there so guests could leave sweet messages for the couple.

Reception

Before we invited guests upstairs, I pulled Megan and Brad into the reception room, where their dueling piano band was practicing. What a moment! The couple was able to practice and enjoy their first dance song before anyone entered.
