A winter wedding at The Drake Oak Brook set the stage for an elegant, high-energy celebration just days after Christmas. Planned and designed by a Chicago wedding planner, the client and I created this event as a reflection of thoughtful details, meaningful moments, and an unforgettable guest experience.

A Holiday Wedding at The Drake Oak Brook

Set between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the timing of this celebration created a warm, festive atmosphere. The Drake and the decor welcomed guests into a beautifully styled space. Glowing Christmas trees and soft lighting made every moment feel intimate and celebratory.

Because the couple married the previous year with a small ceremony, the focus of this day was entirely on creating an exceptional experience for their guests.

Thoughtful Details & Personal Touches

From the beginning, the bride prioritized design and photography. Every detail reflected her refined, intentional style. Together, we collaborated closely to ensure each element felt cohesive and elevated.

As a meaningful nod to the groom’s military service, she incorporated subtle, yet powerful details throughout the evening. Jamie, the photographer, thoughtfully photographed the groom’s uniform, and the bride gave me American flags to put near the dance floor.

An Unforgettable Reception Experience

We designed the party to build energy and create memorable moments throughout the night. Just before the dance floor opened, a surprise trio of female violinists took the stage, performing choreographed routines to modern music. It immediately transformed the atmosphere and brought guests to their feet.

Later in the evening, the celebration continued with a second surprise. After a wardrobe change, the couple entered the room led by a live saxophonist, setting the tone for a packed dance floor and an unforgettable party.

Interactive elements kept the energy high and guests fully engaged from start to finish.

A Celebration Centered on Experience

One of the most memorable elements of the evening was the custom video used to introduce the couple into the reception. It set the tone for the night — personal, stylish, and full of intention.
