Some wedding weekends begin quietly. Others immediately set the tone for everything to come.

This Peoria wedding weekend began with meaningful moments, thoughtful hospitality, and gatherings designed to make every guest feel welcomed and included. From a rehearsal overlooking the Illinois River to an elevated welcome party filled with music, cocktails, and heartfelt toasts, the evening felt warm, intentional, and deeply personal from start to finish.

A Wedding Rehearsal Overlooking the Illinois River

The wedding party and family members began the evening at Country Club of Peoria for the ceremony rehearsal.

Set on the club’s back patio overlooking the Illinois River, the rehearsal gave everyone an opportunity to slow down. With a large wedding party and multiple family participants involved, we felt it necessary to have a rehearsal plan.

Children practiced their entrances down the aisle. The bride’s aunt rehearsed the song she would later perform during the ceremony. Although simple, these moments often become some of the most meaningful parts of a wedding weekend.

A Heartfelt Rehearsal Dinner at Jim’s Steakhouse

Following the rehearsal, approximately 150 guests gathered at Jim’s Steak House for a seated rehearsal dinner.

Cocktail hour began in the piano lounge before guests moved into dinner. Then, the evening quickly became far more personal than anyone expected. Throughout the meal, the mother of the groom invited guests to stand and offer spontaneous toasts to the couple. Story after story filled the room with laughter, emotion, and an overwhelming sense of love and support.

What could have felt like a large event instead became incredibly warm and intimate.

An Elevated Welcome Party in Peoria Heights

At the same time, additional guests gathered at the bride’s grandfather’s home in Peoria Heights for a beautifully designed welcome party overlooking another stretch of the Illinois River.

Every detail was intentionally selected for the evening — from the linens and specialty flatware to the custom cups created specifically for the celebration to the service staff aprons. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live music performed by a string quartet beneath the arbor the grandfather had originally built for the bride’s parents’ wedding years earlier.

One of the most memorable details of the evening was the custom wagon built by the grandfather himself, complete with the couple’s emblem displayed on the front and transformed into a fully functioning bar for the party.

The entire evening felt layered with history, hospitality, and thoughtful design.

Ending the Evening Together

Later in the evening, transportation brought guests from the welcome party to Jim’s Steakhouse, where both groups came together to continue the celebration.

As guests mixed, laughed, and shared drinks late into the night, the atmosphere already reflected what the rest of the weekend would become — joyful, elevated, welcoming, and deeply centered around family and connection.

The scene was officially set for the wedding weekend ahead.
