Back in April, I had the pleasure of flying back to DC to work along side Vanessa, our East Coast planner, to help coordinate Michele & Rustin’s wedding. In the years they have been dating, they have really focused on traveling together and brewing their own beer and wine. Each of these hobbies became well represented in the wedding. You’ll have to see all of their beautiful ideas as they played out on their wedding day at the LongView Gallery in Washington, D.C.
Within the garland, you’ll see paper flowers designed and created by the bride, which the florist, Ellen from Local Color Flowers, added to the beautiful greenery.
After the ceremony, the garland was repurposed as a head table runner.
Coaster place cards sat among a bed of grains, typically used for beer brewing.
Each centerpiece had a little wooden airplane or boat, made by the bride. It also contained a growler, which was used to distinguish the table numbers. Some centerpieces had globes rented from a local man who antiques.
Some centerpieces had these intricate glass domes fill with a scene from the bride and groom’s dating history. This one, in particular, was from a time when they went apple picking at an orchard up the East Coast. Again, the craft bride designed and assembled all five of these.
The room was quite a transformation from the typical artist loft feel is generally maintains.
One of my favorite aspects was how Julia Child’s quotes were incorporated throughout the night – by the cake, at the bar, and on the menu.
The adorable band sounded as though they were straight off the streets of New Orleans. At the end of the night, the band surprised the guests and paraded the entire wedding down the street to the after party location!
All in all, it was such a fun day for everyone – guests, bridal party, and vendors! Thanks for having us, Michele & Rustin!
